Alessandro e Lindsay
Who we are
We are Alessandro and Lindsay, and Vigne di Sossi began with a simple idea: to restore an old vineyard on the hills above Masserano.
After many years living abroad, we returned to Alessandro's family home in Piedmont. The slopes below the house had once been planted with vines, but like many vineyards across Northern Piedmont, they had gradually been abandoned and reclaimed by woodland. In 2020, Alessandro finally began bringing them back to life, clearing the woodland and planting two hectares of Nebbiolo.
Our home overlooks the vineyard and the surrounding countryside. We share it with our children, Ines and James, Alessandro's parents, and Jack, our overfriendly rescue dog. Throughout the summer, it fills with cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, making it a lively place to live and work.
Neither of us left our day jobs to become full-time winemakers. Alessandro works in international retail real estate and spends much of the week in Madrid, while I (Lindsay) teach English. The vineyard has grown around evenings, weekends and every spare moment in between.
Fortunately, it has never been just the two of us. Family, neighbours and friends have become part of the project, giving their time, sharing ideas and helping wherever they can. Together, we are bringing a small part of Masserano’s winemaking heritage back to life.
