Bottling the 2025 Vintage

Last weekend marked another milestone for us: our 2025 vintage of La Volpe Rossa went into bottle.
It was a wet August day, which made things slightly more complicated, but by mid-morning the mobile bottling line had arrived and everyone had found a job.
For a small winery like ours, the bottling line comes to us. The entire operation arrives on the back of a truck and is set up just outside the cellar. Our wine travelled from the tank in the cellar, through a long hose and into the bottling machine, where each bottle was filled and closed before making its way back into the cellar.
It is quite a sight to see. Wine that has spent months quietly developing in the cellar suddenly disappears through a hose and, a few moments later, emerges as rows and rows of bottles.
And then the human production line begins.

Everyone helped. Ines was at the bottling machine, while Alessandro carried the bottles from the line to the cellar. James, Uncle Edo and little cousin Paolo stacked them inside. The bottles came off the line in a fast, constant stream, so everyone had to keep moving.

Paolo in particular got stuck in, happily carrying two bottles at a time. We also had an exceptionally well-staffed social media department. Three of the older cousins spent much of the morning with their phones in their hands, so for once there was no shortage of
photographs and videos!

By the end of the day, 1,200 bottles of the 2025 La Volpe Rossa were safely stacked away in the cellar.
After all the work in the vineyard, the harvest and the months in the cellar, seeing the finished bottles stacked up is always a satisfying moment.
Another vintage of La Volpe Rossa, one step closer to the table.
